If you own a closed system coffee maker (particularly SINGLE SERVE type systems), you owe it to yourself to read the Facebook post below.
Mold is a real poison and it WILL make it sick without discrimination. Get a cleanable coffee brewing system – Your health will thank you.
And your coffee will taste better!

This was in our coffee maker. This is the inside of the water heating element. Allot of that is calcified minerals, mold, and who knows what else. The only way to clean this is to run vinegar through it. We did that periodically, and this is still what it looks like. There is no way to wipe it down. My husband took it apart to find this. When a surface is constantly wet, mold grows. You can’t really see all of this coming out in dark coffee. Yuck!
We ditched our coffee maker and switched to a French press. We have a kettle on the stove to heat the water. It’s a quick and easy process. You can wipe all the surfaces down on a kettle and French press.
Mold isn’t something to play with, and you certainly don’t want to be drinking it everyday. Moral of the story: Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there.
